Wodify and PushPress Alternatives for NZ CrossFit Gyms

Wodify and PushPress dominate CrossFit gym software globally, but NZ boxes face real downsides: USD pricing, US-based support, and no access control. Here are the alternatives.

20 October 2025

If you run a CrossFit affiliate in New Zealand, you've probably considered Wodify or PushPress. Both are well-known platforms in the CrossFit community, and many NZ boxes run them. But both have meaningful drawbacks for NZ-based operators.

The NZ problem with Wodify and PushPress

  • USD pricing: Wodify starts at ~$99 USD/month (~$165 NZD). At current exchange rates that's fine, but the cost fluctuates monthly with the exchange rate.
  • US-based support: Support hours are US timezone. Non-urgent issues can take a full NZ business day to resolve.
  • No door access control: Neither platform includes or integrates with door hardware for NZ setups.
  • Annual contracts: Both typically require annual commitments for their full plans.

Alternative 1: GymMaster (NZ)

GymMaster is NZ-headquartered and covers class booking, member management, and access control (as an add-on). It doesn't have CrossFit-specific features like WOD tracking or performance logs, but covers the operational side well. NZD pricing, NZ support. Good choice if you're moving away from a US platform and want local support.

Alternative 2: Latch (for open-access boxes)

If your box runs open-access training hours rather than strictly scheduled classes, Latch removes the need for booking software entirely. You pay $200 NZD/month (hardware included), set your membership price, and Latch handles payments and door access automatically. Post your programming on a free tool like Notion or SugarWOD's free tier. No USD exposure, no annual contract.

Alternative 3: SugarWOD + Latch

SugarWOD's community and WOD tracking tier is free for small boxes. Pair it with Latch for payments and door access. Members track their workouts in SugarWOD and pay via Latch. You end up with the member engagement of SugarWOD and the automated operations of Latch, at a lower total cost than an all-in-one US platform.

When Wodify/PushPress is still the right call

If your box lives and dies on structured class bookings, waitlists, and performance tracking — and you have 30+ members actively using those features — Wodify or PushPress may still be worth the USD cost. The CrossFit community is deeply embedded in these platforms and member familiarity has value.

NZ CrossFit boxes running open-access or hybrid models can often replace a USD platform entirely with Latch + SugarWOD's free tier. Better value, NZD pricing, hardware included.
