If a card fails, Stripe retries automatically. You're notified. The member's access continues during the retry window.
If retries are exhausted, door access is revoked automatically. The member gets an email. No conversation needed.

Charge whatever the market will bear. $50/month, $200/month — it's your gym. Existing members keep their rate when you update pricing.
Many NZ gym owners use direct debit providers like Debitsuccess, ezidebit, or Hnry for payment collection. Direct debit has advantages — high success rates, bank account deduction — but it also has limitations for small gyms.
Direct debit requires members to complete an authority form and there's typically a 2–5 business day delay before the first payment clears. Card payments via Stripe are instant, require no paperwork, and work internationally.
More importantly: Stripe integrates directly with Latch's door access system. Direct debit providers don't have an API that lets us automatically revoke door access on failed payments — so you'd still need to manage that manually.
